Altering Your Look...in more ways than one!

Sewing and Alteration Services
While you are dropping pounds and/or firming up those flabby muscles through healthy eating and exercise, your clothing may be in that transition period where things just don't fit right.  Rather than buying new clothing for a temporary time in your life, consider altering your old clothes.  Then reward yourself with a new outfit when your weight goal is attained.

In addition to making minor alterations on everyday clothes, I have experience altering prom, bridesmaid and flower girl dresses.  Quite often, dresses need to be let in or out due to weight fluctuations for one reason or another.  Taking them in is usually not a problem, but they can only be let out so far!

Nutrition and Wellness Tips

Plan ahead.

  • Look for a few healthy recipes that are inexpensive and quick to prepare...rather than relying on spendy fast food.
  • Write a simple shopping list.
  • Stock your refrigerator and pantry with healthy ingredients, and don't let them spoil before you get back to them.

Eat fruits and veggies!

  • Fruits and Veggies give you important antioxidants, phytochemicals and other nutrients that help you to build your immune system .
  • They are Nature's original fast food and yes, they are really good for you!
  • Don't walk out the door in the am without one to eat with a meal or for a snack.

Eat breakfast.

  • Research has shown that eating breakfast may increase your metabolism and give you a jump start to your day.
  • Those who eat breakfast are more successful with weight control.
  • Remember to include a source of protein in your breakfast...such as an egg or peanut butter on toast.  It will satisfy you longer and help you to avoid that famished feeling at mid-morning.

Drink plenty of healthy beverages

  • Many times when we think we are hungry, we are actually thirsty!

     Exercise!

It will boost your metabolism and along with a healthy meal plan, you'll be more successful at controlling your weight.

If you can't fit in a 20-minute walk, try these tips...

  • Take the steps rather than the elevator.
  • Park further away from the front door of your destination than you normally do.
  • Put down the remote...you get the picture, right?
